PI/PS Day

What is PI/PS Day?

The Northern California Public Interest/Public Sector Legal Careers Day (PI/PS Day) is hosted each February by the Public Interest Clearinghouse and nine NorCal Law Schools: Golden Gate University School of Law, John F. Kennedy University School of Law, Santa Clara University School of Law, Stanford Law School, University of California Berkeley School of Law, University of California Davis School of Law, University of California Hastings College of the Law, University of San Francisco School of Law, and University of the Pacific McGeorge School of the Law.

When:

The 27th Annual PI/PS Legal Careers Day will be held in February 2011 at the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. The 26th Annual Northern California Public Interest/Public Sector Legal Careers Day was held on Saturday, February 6, 2010.

Why:

PI/PS Day provides law students an opportunity to meet and interview with public interest and public sector legal organizations. The event also gives organizations exposure to a large group of people dedicated to public service, a chance to speak with and formally interview a large, diverse group of law students, and a forum for interacting with other public service organizations and government agencies.

PI/PS Day consists of:

  1. Formal Interviews: Organizations conduct formal, pre-screened interviews at PI/PS Day for paid, work-study or volunteer positions. These interviews are open only to students at the nine sponsoring schools.
  2. Meet the Advocates: During Meet the Advocates, representatives from various organizations and agencies sit at tables and students circulate and speak with them informally. Students do not need to make any advance arrangements or register online with individual organizations for these sessions. Meet the Advocates is an excellent chance to learn about the work done by a large number of organizations and to explore opportunities with them. Each year, many students attending the MTA sessions are offered interviews after PI/PS Day – and these often result in jobs. MTA is from 9:30am - 12:30pm.
